Inspectors came out to verify clearance of water, sewer, and gas but electric and cable was mistakenly booked two weeks out. Two calls in two days accomplished the task.



Square cut in asphalt



The asphalt needed a 4'x4' cut to make a soil sample available. This will determine the scope of foundation material and depth underground.

It didn't take long, but it was a hot day. The job was accomplished August 18.

Tim arrived with
Joe Moore
who operated the back hoe...



Tim Barney inspects the soil for its substance and water content to determine conditions for building the mast foundation.


His expertise is highly regarded throughout Lewis County, WA. We are grateful for his effort to coordinate this procedure and donating his analysis as the project takes shape. Tim will be able to combine the necessary materials for the foundation in accordance with engineering plans.



Tim assesses the soil and determines the work will need to be delayed until after the coming rainy season.

PROGRESS WILL HAVE TO RESUME NEXT YEAR...





Joe skillfully moves the earth back into the hole and pounds it flat to replace the asphalt.

August 24: Drove to Portland to pick up custom 24" threaded rods and anchor bolts...



August 25, 2023: the Whole hole (6' deep) is dug, filled, lined... More rocks, Copacted and leveled





Joe Moore got to work on the dig assisted by Monte. First the asphalt is removed.
Joe's son operates the dump truck.
The new surface is hosed
down before compacting.
Tim inspects the fill.
